Raise minimum salary of civil servants in Budget 2015 - Cuepacs
AZIH: Calls on the government to raise the minimum salary of civil servants to RM1,200 from the current RM800
The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) has expressed hope that the improvement on 171 public service schemes, which are currently under review, will be announced at the tabling of Budget 2015.
Cuepacs president Azih Muda said, right now, the congress was in the final stage of discussion with the Public Service Department (PSD) concerning improvements on the public service schemes for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) to degree holders.
"Cuepacs hopes the government will provide explanation on the improvement of those schemes as soon as possible," he told reporters after giving a briefing on current issues to administrative assistants at the Daily Care Complex of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) here.
Azih also called on the government to consider raising by 30 percent the minimum salary of civil servants from RM800 a month to help them cope with the rising cost of living.
"Some civil servants still receive a minimum salary of less than RM800 and they are considered as being under the poverty line.
"Hence, we call on the government to raise the minimum salary to RM1,200 because these young workers need a bigger house to stay and to raise their children in a more conducive living condition," he said.
Azih said Cuepacs also hoped that the government would give bigger allocation to the aspects of health, including to increase the number of hemodialysis machines for the convenience of kidney patients nationwide, in the tabling of Budget 2015.
