'Raja Muda Sulu' a Malaysian, claims PKR

‘Raja Muda’ Agbimuddin Kiram, the leader of the Sulu terrorists group who landed in Lahad Datu to stake a claim Sabah, is a Malaysian, claimed PKR today.

PKR cited documents obtained from a 1975 list of state civil servants kept in the Sabah state archives, which recorded one “Datu Agbimudin Kiram” as a junior administrative officer in the Kudat District.

The document also said that the man was appointed to this position on March 1, 1974 and received a monthly salary of RM610.

PKR strategy director Rafizi Ramli and deputy secretary-general Darell Leiking revealed this in a press conference this morning.

They said: “This matter is important because it clearly shows the side effects of Project IC which is linked to former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad."

The PKR duo were referring to the awarding of citizenship which took place between during 1981 and 2003, which is now being investigated by the Royal Commission of Inquiry.

PKR called on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to clarify how Sulu militants obtained Malaysian citizenships and how many had in fact been awarded the blue-coloured identity cards.

“The existance of leaders from this Sulu armed group who have Malaysian citizenship confirms the fears of the rakyat that the illegal giving of citizenship for political reasons invites security threats,” said PKR.

PKR asked how many of those intruders are currently Filipinos who were awarded blue ICs, such as this ‘Agbimudin Kiram’, how many of them were Umno members.
