Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has decided that barber shops, beauty salons and optical shops would not be allowed to operate during the Movement Control (MCO) order extended until April 28.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said all forms of Ramadan bazaars will also not be allowed to operate during the period.
He said the decision was made after assessing and listening to the views of the people as well as expert advice.
"A few days ago, the issue was about barber shops. As I mentioned in the press conference for two consecutive days, the government is always listening to the people, the government is getting expert advice, the government is listening to the voices of NGOs.
"In this regard, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has decided that the operation of barber shops, beauty salons and optical shops nationwide will not be allowed during the MCO period," he said at a press conference here on Monday.
Thus, the decision made by the government will answer every question raised by many on previous steps taken by the government.
"So, I think this would answer all the questions raised by the people. The Prime Minister has decided that issues related to barber shops and so on, as it is not allowed during the MCO," he said.
On Saturday, the Ministry of Health (MOH) recommended that the government temporarily suspend the operation of barber shops and other sectors during the third phase of the MCO.
