Rapid Rail makes a U-turn, will now comply with social distancing
In a statement on Tuesday morning, Rapid Rail said it had terminated its social distancing rules in its trains and stations starting Wednesday.
Rapid KL rail service operator, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd, has announced it will comply with the government's decision to continue social distancing on Light Rail Transit (LRT), Mass Flow Transit (MRT) and Monorail.
In a statement on Tuesday afternoon, Rapid Rail said the policy would continue to be implemented until the government made a new decision.
“In this regard, we urge all passengers who will return to work on June 10 to comply with the policy and always cooperate with the Rapid KL team on duty at the station.
“Consumers are asked to plan their journey as the number of passengers will increase. We greatly appreciate the comments and views of Malaysians on the operation of the township rail service,” the statement said.
Earlier, in a statement on Tuesday morning, Rapid Rail said it had terminated its social distancing rules in its trains and stations starting Wednesday.
Rapid Rail chief executive Abdul Hadi Amran was reported to have said the move was in line with the standard operating procedure (SOP) issued by the Ministry of Transport in connection with the operation under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).
He said the SOP would allow 100 per cent capacity in all rail services except Electric Train Service (ETS) and the Malayan Railway (KTM) Intercity.
He added that the LRT, MRT and Monorail services would also operate normally as before the Movement Control Order (MCO) was implemented on March 18.
