KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chairman Senator Datuk Ras Adiba Radzi received the Lifetime Achievement Award (Women Empowerment) at the Women of Excellence Awards 2021/2022 (WOEA 2021/22) tonight.
The award, organised by FM Media Communications in collaboration with The CEO Malaysia magazine, is to recognise over 70 female entrepreneurs and personalities from across the country.
Guests comprising representatives of companies and individuals from various industries as well as celebrities were in attendance, and award recipients are evaluated through three main criteria, namely the company's annual performance, leadership and outstanding achievements in their respective fields.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Special Functions) Datuk Mastura Mohd Yazid when officiating at the award ceremony said women's contributions can transform a community despite facing obstacles at all levels.
"I would like to wish everyone a happy International Women's Day themed Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow," she said.
FM Media Communication managing director Ema Malina Abu Bakar Tajudin in her opening remarks said the award ceremony was held in conjunction with International Women's Day which is celebrated in March each year.
"Through this prestigious programme, we can leverage our expertise to generate and enhance their branding and business potential. In addition, we also want to provide a platform to bring all successful female entrepreneurs together," she said.
Meanwhile, Ras Adiba described the award as an appreciation shown towards women for their determination and efforts put in throughout their careers.
"Tonight is very special, I feel humbled to be among these women who have done really well in their careers. I am touched over my efforts being appreciated.
"Women out there should not give up but have to believe in themselves because we can only achieve our dreams through our own efforts," she told Bernama.
She also expressed her gratitude for the award and thanked everyone who has supported her career over the years.
