A supermarket, said to be in Kuala Terenganu, has disposed off 63.8kg of dried chillies to bring back customer confidence, after pictures of rats in piles of chillies went viral on social sites on Monday.
State Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism director, Azlan Abdul Samat said five of his personnel had went to the supermarket to find out the actual situation.
"The pictures went viral on social media at night. So, early the next morning, we went to the supermarket and were informed by the management that 63.8kg of their chilli stock have been disposed off.
"The management also said they had changed the method of packing their new dried chilli, selling them in smaller packets and not in big open boxes as before," he told reporters after attending a 2016 Deepavali Festive Season Price Control Scheme here Wednesday. -- Bernama
