Assistant Police Commissioner R.Ravichandran will be appointed as Perak Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) chief effective tomorrow.
The former Selangor NCID deputy chief will take over from ACP Yap Toon Khuan who will be on mandatory retirement from tomorrow.
The handing over of duties ceremony between Ravichandran, 55, and Toon Khuan, 59, was witnessed by Perak Police chief Datuk Osman Salleh at the Perak Police Contingent headquarters here today.
Ravichandran, who is from George Town, Penang first joined the police force in 1982 and has served as Negeri Sembilan NCID chief for five years since 2006 before being appointed as Selangor NCID deputy chief for three years.
Osman in his speech said he was confident Ravichandran's appointment as the new narcotics chief was timely based on his career background and past experience.
Meanwhile Ravichandran said he would continue Toon Khuan's commitment in carrying out enforcement against drug abuse activities in Perak, which is the drug trafficking route from north to south.
