Reappointment as DPM best birthday gift for Muhyiddin

The announcement of his reappointment as Deputy Prime Minister has become the best and meaningful gift for Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as he celebrates his 66th birthday.
Muhyiddin's reappointment was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak when announcing his Cabinet line-up at the Perdana Putra, Putrajaya.
Muhyiddin was also appointed as Education and Higher Learning Minister I.
Born on May 15, 1947, Muhyiddin received his early education at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Maharani, Muar, Johor and secondary education at Muar High School.
He later attended Universiti Malaya where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Economics and Malay Studies in 1970.
He married Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman in 1972 and they have four children.
Muhyiddin began his political career as Muar-Pagoh Umno treasurer before becoming Pagoh Umno Youth chief and Pagoh Umno vice-chief in 1975.
He was then elected as Umno Supreme Council member in 1987 and as deputy president in 2009.
Muhyiddin contested and was elected as member of Parliament for Pagoh in the 1978 general election and kept the seat for two terms.
In 1986, he switched to contest and won the Bukit Serampang state seat which opened the path for him to become Johor Menteri Besar until 1995, before switching back to contest and won the Pagoh parliamentary seat, which he retained until now.
In the 13th general election on May 5, Muhyiddin defeated PAS candidate Mohamad Rozali Jamil with 12,842-vote majority.
In the Cabinet, Muhyiddin had served as Youth and Sports Minister, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Agriculture Minister and International Trade and Industry Minister before becoming Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister in 2009.
