Recent floods cause RM7 million damage to 41 Pahang schools

The recent floods caused damage estimated at more than RM7 million to schools in Pahang, it was revealed here, Tuesday.
Pahang director of education Mohd Rosdi Ismail, who disclosed this, said the floods affected 41 schools in six districts and damaged more than RM30,000 worth of text books.
He disclosed these details at a briefing for Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the Pahang Education Department in Bandar Indera Mahkota near here.
Muhyiddin had arrived here to attend a briefing on the post-flood situation and the preparations being made for the new school year in 2014.
Mohd Rosdi said 16 schools in the Kuantan district were affected by the floods as well as three in Jerantut, five in Bera, three in Maran, seven in Pekan and seven in Temerloh.
He said the department would get the district education offices to monitor the situation and ensure that all the schools had adequate facilities and text books before the new school session began on Thursday.
After the hour-long briefing, Muhyiddin visited the flood-affected Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Permatang Badak and SK Tanah Putih Baru near here.
