KUCHING: The Prime Minister wants civil servants to reduce bureaucratic constraints in ensuring that the delivery system to the people in rural areas, including in Sarawak, runs smoothly.
In this regard, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said, the Perikatan Nasional government focused on ensuring the delivery of efficient and people -friendly government services.
He stressed that the move was important so that messages and assistance could be channelled effectively to the affected target groups.
"For example, at the local authority (PBT) level, any regulations that are found to be no longer effective should be reviewed and improved. Simplify the application process for assistance to the people. Similarly, applications from traders, entrepreneurs and investors. Each application should be considered as best as possible.
"I am aware that one of the biggest challenges is in the delivery of government services, how we want to deliver services and various forms of assistance, especially to the public in the interior who still have limited facilities such as basic infrastructure and internet access," he said.
He said this in conjunction with a Special Meeting with Civil Servants in Sarawak.
The Prime Minister added that the government is also committed in driving the digital transformation towards the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR) to establish the National Digital Economy Council and 4IR.
To that end, he wants civil servants to adapt and adapt to the new norms to be more sensitive and truly understand the pulse of the people.
“I hope you can continue to play a role as facilitators and facilitate the affairs of the local community in their respective communities in line with the public sector empowerment agenda.
"The widespread use of post-COVID-19 technology in the civil service can definitely add value to government service delivery," he said.
Apart from that, Muhyiddin also wants civil servants to strengthen a work culture with integrity while carrying out their daily duties.
He said, that way, work productivity among civil servants could be increased so that the key performance indicator (KPI) targets were achieved thus creating a zero -corruption society.
