Reduce cost of maid to RM4,000 - Wanita BN
Wanita Barisan Nasional has asked the Malaysian Maid Employers Association to join in the fight to reduce the cost involved in getting a housemaid from Indonesia. Its chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil hoped the cost could be lowered to not more than RM4,000, and which should be maintained. "There will be more women in the workforce if the proposal is implemented," she said in a statement, here, Thursday. Early this month, the Association of Foreign Maid Agencies announced that the cost of getting a maid from Indonesia had been set at RM6,700. The new cost structure does not include an additional RM1,800 which will be loaned to each potential maid to help them furnish part of the payment to the Domestic Workforce Sector in Indonesia.
