Refrain from making unsubstantiated speculations on Kevin Morais' disappearance - MACC

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today urged all parties to refrain from making unsubstantiated speculations on the disappearance of the deputy head of the Appellate and Trial Division of the Attorney-General's Chambers, Anthony Kevin Morais, at 7pm yesterday.

MACC Intelligence division director Datuk Azam Baki in a statement said no parties should jump the gun as the case is being investigated by the police and MACC.

"(We) hope his family will be patient as investigation is ongoing," he said in the statement.

He added that Kevin Morais has served as deputy public prosecutor at MACC’s Legal and Prosecution Department and has represented the agency for almost 10 years before he returned to the A-G Chambers on July 1, 2014.

"He was very dedicated and committed in his duties as Deputy Prosecutor. He was also very friendly.

"During his tenure as MACC deputy public prosecutor, Kevin Morais has handled many high profile cases and until today, he has conducted a high number of cases involving the MACC," he said.

It was reported that Morais was last seen leaving his apartment in Menara Duta for work on Friday morning, using his official government-government car bearing the registration WA 6264 Q.

A burnt car was retrieved near the palm oil plantation at Kampung Sungai Samak in Sungai Melintang on Sunday morning, two days after Kevin Anthony had reportedly gone missing.
