KUALA LUMPUR: The religious event held at the Batu Caves temple as shown on a video, which has gone viral, was actually held in September and not yesterday, said Gombak District Police chief ACP Arifai Tarawe.
He clarified that the religious programme was held behind closed doors in the temple’s area on Sept 19.
“The religious event was permitted to be held in accordance with the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO). The devotees had to strictly adhere to the SOP, such as wearing face masks, registering their names and using hand sanitiser,” he said in a statement today.
Arifai also reminded all mosques, surau as well as houses of worship committee members to always control the number of visitors and ensure SOP compliance during religious programmes.
