The remains of a Malaysian student who was killed in a road accident in Egypt two weeks arrived at the Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) cargo complex here today.
Upon arrival at 6pm, the body of Ummi Nadiah Filzah Daud, 21, accompanied by her parents, was ferried by a van at 7.30pm to their house in Bandar Tasik Putri, Rawang for burial at a cemetery there.
Her brother and family members and several officers from the Education Ministry were on hand to receive the body at the terminal.
Ummi Nadiah Filzah's uncle, who declined to be identified, said the deceased, the third from four siblings, was an obedient, affable and intelligent person.
The accident occurred when the van ferrying Ummi Nadiah Filzah and her friends – all students at the Faculty of Dentistry at Alexandria University - hit the back of a lorry and spun out of control.
The students were thrown out of the van due to the impact. Five other students were injured but the driver escaped unscathed.
They were on their way to the Borg El Arab International Airport to return to Malaysia for their semester break.
