The remains of a man believed to be a foreigner were found in some bushes near Masjid Jalan Baru, here today.
A member of the public was cutting down a tree at noon when he saw the remains from the waist down clad in jeans.
No personal documents were found but a Myanmar woman claimed that the remains belonged to his nephew, based on the black jeans worn.
Sarah Moghul, 44, said her nephew, 28, did not return home for the past two weeks after leaving for 'subuh' prayers at the mosque.
Since he went mising, Sarah and her husband, Hussin Mohd Rafik, 45, went searching for him in various places including asking his friends but in vain.
Meanwhile, Seberang Perai Tengah deputy police chief Supt Baharom Abu said the case was classified as sudden death and the remains were sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital for autopsy.
"The identity is still unknown as no personal documents were found. However, a man claimed that the remains belonged to his family member," he added.
