The remains of a boy found in undergrowth in Kampung Kemensah, Hulu Kelang, here today has been confirmed to be those of five-year-old Noor Amila Edrus Norsham who had been missing for a week.
This was confirmed by KL Police deputy chief Datuk Abdul Hamid Mohd Ali.
He said police were waiting for the post-mortem report on the cause of death.
The remains were brought to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital after the find at about 12.30pm and, according to a police source, the remains were decapitated.
"We are waiting for a forensics report. I cannot say anything now. It may interfere with the investigation," said Abdul Hamid.
Noor Amila Edrus was reported missing in Jinjang Utara last Thursday.
He was reported missing after having gone to the surau near his house and did not return after the Maghrib prayers.
A man believed to be a relative of the family, who was detained, led police to the remains, according to a source.
