Remand extended for man allegedly strangled wife to death

The seven-day remand period of a 41-year-old man who is believed to have strangled his wife to death with her headscarf in a car, which expires today, has been extended for another six days to facilitate police investigations.
Magistrate Ayuni Izzaty Sulaiman issued the remand order, beginning today until Aug 12 at the Sepang Magistrate’s Court here today.
The suspect, a volunteer with a non-governmental organisation (NGO) was previously remanded since July 31.
On July 30, a lecturer with Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM) was found dead in her car near a lake in PKNS Pinggiran Cyberjaya, Sepang after she was believed to have been killed by her husband in Taman Mas, Putra Perdana, Puchong, on July 29.
According to reports, the suspect is said to have pretended to look for his wife, accompanied by their 14-year-old daughter using an e-hailing service, after the victim was unreachable and failed to return home.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
