Remand extended for PJ car park fire suspect

The remand period for a suspect believed to have caused a fire that destroyed six cars at a parking lot near the Taman Jaya LRT station in Petaling Jaya, has been extended till Dec 28.
Petaling Jaya police chief, ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said the case would be referred to the CID (Investigation and Legal) deputy chief at the Selangor Police Headquarters tomorrow.
"The case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for causing mischief with fire," he said when contacted here today.
In the incident last Monday, six cars caught fire after the suspect in his 20s, allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail towards the back seat of a car at the parking lot.
Following the incident, police arrested the suspect at about 11pm that same day, in Petaling Jaya.
