Remand extended for teen suspects in cop's wife's murder

The remand order on four teenage boys suspected of killing a policeman's wife in Taman Tanjung Mas, Tanjung Rambutan on Feb 11 was extended for another six days beginning tomorrow.
Magistrate Haslinda A. Raof allowed the suspects aged between 15 and 19 to be remanded until next Monday to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
The lawyer representing all the suspects, Mohamed Yazzer Azzad Zainudin said the remand period for all the suspects earlier ended today and the magistrate had extended the remand until Feb 23.
On Feb 11, the victim, Izaah Abdullah, 52, who was the wife of a highway patrol policeman in Slim River, Tanjung Malim, was found dead in bed in a pool of blood with a stab wound on her neck.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects used a stick to pick a key hung near the backdoor through a window before taking a knife in the incident at about 3am.
Following the incident, police detained four youths near the housing estate and in Bercham between 6am and 8am.
Police also seized a piggy bank and two handphones from a suspect besides a knife in the victim's house which was believed to have been used to stab the victim.
