Remand extended to Thursday for anti-crime NGO chairman

The remand order on the chairman of an anti-crime non-governmental organisation (NGO) and his driver, who is an Indian national, has been extended until Thursday to enable the police to complete the investigation.
Bukit Aman CID director Datuk Seri Mohmad Salleh confirmed this when contacted by Bernama.
The chairman and his driver were arrested near the Nilai toll plaza on June 22, on suspicion of criminal intimidation and extortion.
According to a news portal report, the 32-year-old chairman, who lives in Kajang, was picked up by a Bukit Aman Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Division team as soon as he received RM25,000 in protection money from a complainant, a 38-year-old illegal four-digit operator.
The report stated that during the 10.50 pm arrest, police also found RM16,080 in cash in the suspect's car.
