The remand order on two lovebirds believed to be 'Mamak Gang' members arrested on Dec 6 has been extended for another six days effective Saturday.
Perak CID Intelligence/Operations deputy chief, ACP Fadzil Ahmat said the remand order was issued by Magistrate Nur Melati Diana Abdul Wahab after Taiping District Senior Investigating Officer ASP Rahimi Abd Rahman submitted an application to extend the remand on the couple aged 52 and 33.
"Their remand order expired yesterday and we managed to obtain an extension to facilitate police investigations," he said when contacted by Bernama.
The 52-year-old man from Kampung Stesen was arrested with his girlfriend in a raid in Taman Sri Desa, Kampung Tawas here at 6.20pm on Dec 6.
In the raid police seized two cars, a Proton Perdana and Honda Civic, a police vest and several housebreaking tools.
The male suspect, who tested positive for drugs, has 25 previous convictions which included robbery and break-ins and is wanted in Kedah, Selangor, Penang and Malacca.
The woman from Sungai Siput was also tested positive for drugs.
