Report any increase in prices during floods - Hassan
The Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) has urged the public, non-governmental organisations and consumer associations to report any increase in prices of goods in flooded areas.
Its Minister Datuk Seri Hassan Malek said the ministry would take action if there was proof that the prices of goods were arbitrarily increased.
"I want everybody to help in this move. God willing, the supply of basic necessities will not be depleted.
"Contact us at our lines and we will deal with the Members of Parliament of the respective areas," he told reporters after handing over of the 2013 KPDNKK-Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Joint Operation certificates of appreciation here, Thursday.
During the ceremony, 24 officers from the ministry and MACC received the certificates after taking part in an integrated operation which crippled a syndicate abusing subsidised disesel and cooking gas in the country this year.
Hassan also urged the public to contact the ministry at 1-800-886-800 or the national Security Council's secretariat in the flooded areas to complain on shortage of items of basic needs.
