Report on review of 'The New Village' ready this week - LPF

The Film Censorship Board's (LPF) report on the review of the controversial film "The New Village' will be sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) this week.

LPF chairman Datuk Raja Azhar Raja Abdul Manap said two panels were established to find alleged communist elements and hidden agenda in terms of the storyline and certain things.

"The LPF panel always view films based on the guidelines. We will review this film objectively and will be watching it.

"In fact, this morning the people from Astro Shaw (film producer ) delivered the film back to us for a review," he told Bernama today.

The film sparked public outcry on the Internet for allegedly trying to glorify the communists and some non-governmental organisations (NGO) and political bodies had demanded that the film be withdrawn or banned.

Yesterday, Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the film scheduled for screening on August 22 had been postponed to enable LPF to review the contents in terms of plot and message.
