Residents say developer violated MPSJ's stop work order

Residents in Jalan Tempua, Bandar Puchong Jaya claim that the developer of a high rise condominium project in the area had violated a stop work order issued by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ).

The residents say they are worried that an unwanted incident such as a landslide may occur at anytime due to the developer’s non compliance.

A resident Jaya Veera said there had been landslips occurring in the area for the past few weeks as a result of the works being carried out by the developer.

“This area is not safe for a 33-storey building to be constructed,” he said.

“We had previously lodged a report to the council and subsequently a stop work was issued, but it now appears that the developer have started with construction works," Jaya said.

Another resident Yong Wee Teck said the residents had initially agreed with the development project as they were informed that only three blocks of condominiums would be built.

“We later objected after finding out that five high rise blocks would be built instead,” Yong said.

When contacted, council president Datuk Asmawi Kasbi said the council will investigate claims by the residents that the developer had flouted the council’s directive.

“The stop work order remains in force for now until further notice. The developer should not be carrying out any works. We will investigate the matter,” Asmawi said.

The stop work order was issued by the council in Dec last year after a a truck carrying development material lost control, rolled backwards and rammed a house below the hill.

He also added that Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim had asked the Town and Country Planning Department to set up a committee to study whether the project should continue.
