Residents want security tighten in their area
Residents living in Puncak Setiawangsa which was affected by a landslide on Friday, want the enforcement agencies to tighten security at the affected area to avoid looting.
Rompin Member of Parliament and Special Envoy to the United States, Datuk Seri Jamaludin Jarjis, among residents affected by the landslide said though no such reports of looting was received thus far, beefing up security can avoid occurrences during the Bukit Antarabangsa landslide, four years ago.
Jamaluddin said residents were concerned with the presence of a lorry last night that raised the suspicion of the people living there.
"Apparently the lorry driver had claimed that he was there upon the request of a resident who had wanted to shift but when pressed for confirmation, the lorry hurriedly left the area," he told reporters here today.
Jamaluddin said he had forwarded the concern of the residents to Kuala Lumpur Internal Security and Public Order chief SAC Wan Abd Bari Wan Abd Khalid.
He urged residents who wished to shift their belongings through the services of transportation companies to inform the registration number of the vehicle to the security to avoid any misunderstanding.
"For better safety, the house owner should be around when his or her belongings are being shifted," he said.
Last Friday's landslide at Puncak Setiawangsa led to the evacuation of 106 residents from their bungalows, terrace houses and shop houses in the area.
During the landslide, a 50m to 60m concrete wall constructed along the embankment, collapsed at about 10pm on Friday, damaging a number of houses in the area.
