Residents of Taman Saga worried over the continued erosion at Bukit Saga for the past two years will result in a landslide.
The erosion at Bukit Saga has now put 50 townhouses, which are located near the hill at Jalan Saga 28, at risks. These townhouses currently accommodate over 100 families.
So far, the residents claimed that they have reported the issue to Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ), but actions are yet to be taken.
Selangor Gerakan Youth Chief Ben Liew Boon Pok said the continuous heavy rains often causes massive mud flooding, soil erosion and clogged drainage around the area.
He said it troubled the residents as they have to always clean the house and this can cause diseases.
"We at the office had received a complaint that the soil erosion here been happening ever since.
"We know that the council comes to see the situation here, but what we are sad that no actions has been taken until today," said Liew this morning.
He also said that a number of tourists often visit the hill area. However, the situation now is not safe at all for the tourists and residents of Taman Saga.
One of the residents of Taman Saga, Abdul Halim Abdul Malik, a 50 year old teacher, said this hill’s condition is like a bomb waiting to explode any time and urge the authorities to act before any loss of life happens.
“There is no point if action comes after any tragedy has occurred; the residents of Taman Saga do not want things like that to happen, so I hope the authorities will act as soon as possible."
Liew said the concerned parties should go to the ground and look at the actual situation and take appropriate action as soon as possible, before it is too late.
He also said, a sum of RM4 million has been allocated by the Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to deal with housing issues as faced by Taman Saga residents.
