The Kelantan Government Supporters Club has urged DAP and Parti Keadilan Rakyat to respect the wishes of the PAS-led Kelantan government of submitting a private bill on the implementation of hudud to be tabled in Parliament, soon.
Its president Abbas Razak said both parties should not question PAS intention of implementing hudud as the Islamic criminal law does not involve the non-Muslims.
He said that the state government should implement the Islamic law without thinking about its relationship with any parties under the Pakatan Rakyat umbrella.
"DAP is a non-Muslim party, Karpal Singh is not a Muslim. So if they want to take into account the wishes of the non-Muslims to cancel hudud, then it is against Allah's law.
"I believe that all members of parliament and state assemblymen from UMNO Kelantan will support this law because they are Muslims," he said during a press conference after receiving a courtesy call from Kelantan Menteri Besar , Datuk Ahmad Yakob, on Friday.
PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat had earlier issued a statement urging all Muslim MPs to support the private bill to be presented by Kelantan PAS in the Dewan Rakyat.
The former Kelantan Menteri Besar said it does not matter if non-Muslim MPs from DAP or PKR rejects the bill but maybe someday they will support it.
"We hope that Allah will open the hearts of all members of parliament to support it," he said after delivering the Friday prayers sermon.
Nik Aziz also said the law was not created by PAS but explained that the hudud law has long existed before the Islamic party was established.
Kelantan deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said on Wednesday said that the private bill on the implementation of Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code Enactment II 1993 could be tabled in Parliament as early as June.
Meanwhile, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng on Tuesday reiterated the party's opposition to hudud and said DAP's stand has not changed on the matter.
Karpal, who is also the Member of Parliament for Bukit Gelugor insisted that Kelantan enactment is in conflict with the Federal Constitution and can not be enforced by Parliament.
Razak explained that Karpal Singh should not worry because hudud will not be imposed on non-Muslims.
Meanwhile, Razak said it was impossible for Karpal not to understand hudud as the former DAP leader was previously briefed on the matter. He thought that Karpal's strong opposition to it is just a political move to protect DAP members..
