A man was seriously injured when he was slashed by two men armed with undisclosed weapons at Kampung Pasir Ara Banggu late Saturday night.
Muhammad Hafizol Salman, 20, who sustained injuries in the head and hand in the 1.30pm incident was warded at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian.
His condition was described as serious.
Initial police investigations have indicated revenge as motive for the attack.
Kota Baharu police chief ACP Azham Othman said Muhammad Hafizol and his wife, Nor Suhaida Abdullah, 21, were getting ready to leave for Perak when they were attacked by two men.
He said the couple had earlier, bumped into one of the assailants at a roadside before Muhammad Hafizol was attacked.
