The Royal Thai Army Task Force has donated 2,500 kilogrammes of rice to flood victims here as a symbol of long-standing friendship between Malaysia and Thailand.
Eighth Brigade Commander, Brig Gen Datuk Azmy Yahya said it reflected the cooperation not just in operations and training but also on humanitarian grounds, especially during disasters.
"On behalf of the Malaysian Armed Forces chief, General Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin, I want to thank Thailand's Prime Minister, Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha who it was understood, ordered the task force to take whatever action to help the flood victims in Kelantan," he told reporters after accepting the donations at Wisma Perwira, Eighth Brigade Headquarters here.
Also present was the Deputy Commander of the Narathiwat Task Force, Special Colonel Pairat Kaewsri. Azmy said the donations would be distributed to flood victims who still needed food supplies.
