Three non-governmental organisations today handed over a memorandum to the British High Commission here, expressing their thanks for the penalties imposed by the British Court on paedophile Richard Huckle.
The NGOs are Ikatan Rakyat Insan Muslim Malaysia (IRIMM), Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia (MJMM) and Pertubuhan Ikatan Usahawan Kecil dan Sederhana Malaysia (Ikhlas).
IRIMM president, Amir Amsaa Alla Pitchay, said the memorandum also served as an appreciation to the British government for having successfully nabbed and sentenced the man who committed sexual abuse on the children in Malaysia.
"We are also asking victims's families to come forward and cooperate with the Royal Malaysia Police to prevent such incident from recurring," he told reporters at the British High Commission Office after handing over the memorandum to its security manager, Maj Gurcharan Singh here.
Last Tuesday, Huckle, 30, was sentenced to life in prison by a London court for sexually violating 23 children and babies in Malaysia as well as children in Cambodia for almost a decade.
He also pleaded guilty to 71 offences and police found more than 20,000 pornographic images of children in his computer and camera when he was arrested at Gatwick Airport in London in 2014.
Recently, British media reported that Huckle, a freelance photographer, had abused up to 200 children aged from six months to 12 years from 2006 to 2014.
Reuters reported that he would be in jail for at least 23 years.
Meanwhile, Ikhlas president, Mohd Ridzuan Abdullah urged the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to conduct investigations as he claimed that the images from Huckle's possession had been uploaded in the internet.
Also present was MJMM president, Datuk Abdul Rani Kulup Abdullah.
