Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua said it was ridiculous for 1MDB chief Arul Kanda Kandasamy to set the condition that Pua must first quit from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) before a live talk show between the duo.
Speaking at a press conference at the Parliament lobby today, Pua said imposing the condition was a way for Arul Kanda to escape from answering him.
He also told Arul Kanda to stop giving “stupid conditions”.
“Accept my challenge like a man and let’s meet on live television,” Pua said adding that Arul Kanda’s condition does not make sense.
Pua stressed that there was no law that prevented him from pursuing matters of public interest outside of the PAC.
Arul Kanda had earlier today said he accepted Pua’s challenge for a live talk show but had set the condition that Pua quits from the PAC as the bi-partisan committee was investigating the 1MDB.
Arul Kanda said this is to avoid any conflict of interest.
Meanwhile, Opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said if the 1MDB has nothing to hide, it should just wait for the PAC to conclude its probe.
She said claims can be made but what mattered most was evidence.
The PAC began its probe into 1MDB financial affairs on May 19.
