Riot against Kedah football supporters, four men charged

Four men claimed trial in the magistrate's court here today for rioting after the Super League match between Penang and Kedah at Stadium Bandaraya on Tuesday.
They are Ruzairi Abd Rahman, 31, Muhammad Fizry Shukor, 21, Shamsuri Aman Rusli Aman, 35, and Muhammad Hafiz Abdullah, 24.
They pleaded not guilty under Section 147 of the Penal Code when the charge was read before Magistrate L. Umma Devi.
If convicted, they can be sentenced to a maximum jail term of two years or a fine or both.
According to the charge sheet, the four Penang football fans were charged with several others who are still at large, rioting against Kedah football fans at the Stadium Bandaraya and Jalan Datuk Keramat at about 11.30pm, July 26.
Prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Noor Azura Zulkiflee, while Ruzairi, Shamsuri and Muhammad Hafiz were represented by counsel Mohd Zambri Mohd Izad.
Muhammad Fizry was represented by R Sankara Krishna.
Umma Devi set September 26 for re-mention of case and allowed bail of RM2,300 for each accused.
