RiVAC important for livelihood, business survival - Nanta

SONG: The Retail Industry Vaccination Programme (RiVAC), which sets out to vaccinate 105,000 retail sector workers before Aug 31, will help the livelihoods of those in the sector and the continuation of businesses, said Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
Nanta said he hoped that there would be no delay to the programme, which is slated to commence on July 26.
"If we don't help them, there will be many more retail businesses being closed down, and their workers become unemployed. That is why we in the ministry firmly urged the authority, the National Security Council (MKN), to give priority to the vaccination programme for retail workers," he said.
Nanta was met by reporters after presenting the food baskets under the National People's Well-being and Economic Recovery Package (PEMULIH) for the Song district, in Kapit parliamentary constituency today.
Nanta, who is also Kapit MP, said a total of 3,000 food baskets, worth RM100 each, will be allocated for Katibas, Bukit Goram and Pelagus state constituencies that come under the Kapit parliamentary constituency.
