RM300 million for Kuala Lumpur PPR flats - Ku Nan

Some RM300 million has been allocated for the maintenance and upgrading of about 75,000 People''s Housing Project (PPR) and low-cost apartments in Kuala Lumpur.

Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the maintenance cost also includes repair and upgrading of flats and apartments under Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

"We have identified the PPR and apartments that need repair to damaged elevators, leaking toilets and potholes that need urgent maintenance for the comfort of residents.

"The maintenance and upgrading of facilities will be done after receiving complaints from residents about the poor condition of their homes," he told reporters after launching a Ramadan programme of Wangsa Maju parliamentary constituency at PPR Gombak Setia, here yesterday.

Maintenance work has been done in PPR in Wangsa Maju, Lembah Pantai and Setiawangsa since the beginning of this year.

Tengku Adnan urged the residents to maintain cleanliness of PPR and maintain the facilities built in their neighbourhood.

"Since the government is renting the units from a low as RM54 per month, the PPR residents should maintain the cleanliness and try not to damage the facilities."

He then handed over RM30,000 from Federal Territories Foundation to upgrade the facilities in the mosque and donated cash and food to 500 recipients comprising orphans, single mothers and the poor. - BERNAMA
