The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) is ready to cooperate with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in an investigation involving allegations of several companies being awarded contracts to provide RM30 million worth of laboratory equipment.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this when asked if the MACC investigation would interfere with the ministry's future operations.
However, he said the issue involving the MACC should be addressed by the MACC and not the MoH.
“That is about the MACC, so we should refer the matter to MACC.
"MOH is always prepared to cooperate with the MACC if needed," he told a daily press conference here on Tuesday.
Earlier, other media reported that the MACC was investigating a company allegedly being awarded RM30 million worth of laboratory equipment.
MACC sources said the investigation also included a construction company allegedly acquiring a Ministry of Health lab construction project.
According to sources, the investigation was now focused on the contractor's appointment process for each acquisition to ensure that it was carried out without corruption, abuse of power and needs to comply with applicable laws and regulations.
