Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak has spent RM44.071 million for his official trips abroad, in a span of five years.
Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming said this figure is at least RM14 million more than what his predecessor Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi spent in the same period of time.
“Badawi only spent RM30 million in five years when he was in office.
“Najib spent RM734,516 in a year and RM8.814 million in a year.. He must explain what he has achieved from his overseas trips,” Nga demanded at a press conference at the Parliament lobby today.
In saying this, Nga was citing a written reply from Minister of Prime Minister’s Department Shahidan Kassim.
Nga had asked the total expenses of Najib and his entourage between March 2008 until May 2013.
Notably, Najib took office as the sixth Malaysian Prime Minister only on 3, April 2009 and the total expenses include his overseas trips while he was the Deputy Prime Minister.
