A total of RM51 million in toll rebate remains unclaimed under the PLUSMiles loyalty card programme, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.
Deputy Works Minister Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin said PLUSMiles card holders were eligible to claim toll rebate amounting to RM72 million since the card was launched in 2009 up to Sept 30 this year.
"However, so far only RM21 million or 29 per cent has been redeemed," she said when replying to a question from Dr Mansor Abd Rahman (BN-Sik) who had wanted to know the amount of toll rebate that had been claimed by road users.
Rosnah said the rebate must be claimed within 12 months and any rebate unclaimed after that period would be considered void.
To a supplementary question from Mansor, she said the direct rebate mechanism had yet to be implemented given the constraints in the existing system.
"However, PLUS in cooperation with Touch 'n Go will always be open to suggestions and improvements, and PLUS will continue to study the best rebate mechanism for users," she said.
Rosnah said each PLUSMiles cardholder had to register the card to be eligible for a rebate.
She said the registration could be done either over the PLUS customer service counter or online.
"To claim the rebate, a cardholder must go to the customer service counter for a verification process before the rebate can be credited to the card. If there are no problems, the redemption will take only five minutes," she said.
