KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government today announced a grant of RM500,000 a month or RM6 million a year for Yayasan Sabah College of Technology (YSCT), one of the incentives to improve the facilities and academic performance at the 32-year-old college.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the incentive was given through Yayasan Sabah as an addition to help with the college's operating costs.
"The state government will also provide a special scholarship for a quota of 100 YSCT students each year from the Sabah State Education Fund," he said when officiating at the YSCT convocation at the Sabah International Convention Centre, here, today.
Also present were Yayasan Sabah director Datuk Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar, who is also the executive chairman of Innoprise Corporation Sdn Bhd, and YSCT chief executive, Samin Ongki.
Hajiji, who is also chairman of the Board of Trustees of Yayasan Sabah, said in addition, a special incentive of RM500,000 was also approved to improve the college's Information and Communications Technology (ICT) learning infrastructure.
He said a one-off payment of RM500 would also be given to each YSCT officer and staff to be paid in their December's salary to spur motivation and improve their work quality.
At the ceremony, 486 graduates received their scrolls in the Diploma and Skills programmes for the 2020-2022 period.
