Not adhering to physical distancing rules and clubbing were among the most common offences committed by the public yesterday under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the police, among others, arrested 143 individuals for failing to comply with physical distancing measures, 70 for being at nightclubs, and 37 for not providing the necessary equipment for recording entries and exits.
"Apart from that, 31 individuals were arrested on suspicion of carrying out prostitution activities, not wearing face masks (23), undocumented foreigners (seven) and one premise for operating beyond the permitted time.
"Of the total, 267 individuals have been compounded while 38 have been remanded and seven others are out on bail," he said in a statement today.
On the integrated operation codenamed 'Op Benteng', Ismail Sabri said 86 illegal immigrants, a smuggler and a boat skipper were arrested yesterday.
On the compulsory quarantine order, he said since July 24, a total of 26,999 individuals had returned home via international border entrances and were housed in 70 hotels and eight other premises including public training and private educational institutions in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Johor, Sarawak, Kelantan, Perak, Kedah, Perlis, Terengganu, Sabah and Labuan.
"Of the number, 10,226 individuals are currently undergoing compulsory quarantine, while 69 have been sent to hospitals for treatment. A total of 16,704 individuals have been discharged and allowed to return," he said.
