RMCO: Sarawak-Kalimantan border control intensified

The control of the Sarawak-Kalimantan border has been tightened In conjunction with the enforcement of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) to prevent entry illegal of immigrants (PATI).
According to Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail, roadblocks were still being conducted in some districts to ensure there was no transmission of the COVID-19 outbreak from neighbouring Kalimantan.
“We are still conducting roadblocks in areas such as the districts that border with Kalimantan.
"This control is important in ensuring that there is no transmission of COVID-19 from the neighbouring country to Sarawak," he said.
Among other things, he said, monitoring was also carried out at each business premises involving agencies such as the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), RELA and the Ministry of Health (MOH).
This was to ensure that traders and visitors comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) outlined.
"The team will monitor business premises such as shops, restaurants, supermarkets, public markets and bus stations to ensure that each SOP is properly complied with," added Aidi after attending a handover ceremony at the Samarahan District Police Headquarters (IPD) between ASP Rafhan Kepli and DSP Sudirman Kram.
