Seven food outlets at the Jason Bay public beach in Kuala Sedili, near Kota Tinggi, were compounded RM1,000 for failing to comply with the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) standard operating procedure (SOP).

Kota Tinggi District Police chief Supt Hussin Zamora said the compounds were issued in a joint operation with the COVID-19 Task Force of the Kota Tinggi Police Headquarters and the Ministry of Health.

"During the operation, the seven premises were found to have failed to comply with the ministry's SOP and protocols to curb the spread of COVID-19, with no entry-point checks, no employee temperature screening and no record books.

"Upon further inspection, the premises were also found to have failed to practise physical distancing," he said in a statement yesterday.

Hussin said the seven premises were ordered to be closed by the ministry in accordance with Section 18(1)(f) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988

He warned that stern action would be taken against any premises found to have breached the SOP put in place to curb the spread of COVID-19.
