Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Lembah Pantai parliamentary seat, Datuk Raja Nong Chik Zainal Abidin has promised to continue serving the residents in his capacity as Umno leader.
Despite losing in the general election, he will continue to assist Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to pursue the agenda of people first.
On the possibility of him being appointed to the Cabinet, he said the office of minister should be held by a Member of Parliament and he did not want the opposition to use his loss to slam the Prime Minister.
Raja Nong Chik lamented that his family was slandered during the election campaign until polling day when he lost to Nurul Izzah Anwar of PKR with a majority of 1,847 votes.
"Nurul had promised not to make personal attacks against me. After learning of her slander, I contacted Malaysiakini but the online newspaper did not publish my explanation," he told reporters at Lembah Pantai BN office today.
"For example, Nurul alleged that my son got a RM30 million job when I was Minister of Federal Territories and Urban Welllbeing when it was given before I became a minister.
"Moreover, the project was under the Youth and Sports Ministry."
Raja Nong Chik said during the campaign, he did not associate Nurul with the many video recordings on the internet attacking her father Anwar Ibrahim.
"I criticised Nurul for neglecting the Lembah Pantai voters and did not use character assasination on her," he added.
