Robbers blow up ATM in Jitra but escape empty-handed

Robbers blew up an automated teller machine (ATM) in at the Napoh Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) building in Changlun early morning today.
The 2.40am incident came to light after people around the area noticed smoke coming out from the building.
Kubang Pasu police chief Superintendent Mohd Ismail Ibrahim said police arrived at the scene after receiving reports and saw smoke coming out from the area where the ATM machine was placed.
The robbers were believed to have used self-made bombs and placed it under the ATM’s front ‘door’ in order the blow it up.
However, the attempt failed.
Forensic investigation found burnt marks on the left side of the machine and its door.
The police are currently investigating the recording of a CCTV to identify the suspects.
The case is being investigated under Sections 457 and 436 of the Penal Coden.
