Two masked men wearing black jackets escaped with over RM300,000 cash after blowing up an ATM machine at a bank here, early this morning.
Kubang Pasu district police chief Supt Abd Rahim Abdullah said CCTV cameras captured the crime unfolding at 5.45am.
He said the men, who fled in a Toyota Camry, were believed to have used a homemade pipe bomb to blow up the machines. Their identities as yet are unknown.
No casualties were reported.
Abd Rahim said robbers used a similar modus operandi last February involving an ATM in Simpang Kuala, Alor Setar. The culprits in that incident also managed to escape with about RM300,000 cash.
