Roslee admits quitting UMNO hasty decision

Roslee, who was also State Rural Development, Entreprenuership, Cooperatives and Consumerism Committee chairman, said he took the step because he was unclear and shocked about the change of Menteri Besar (MB) in Terengganu.

"Initially I was not very clear about what was happening and was shocked by the decision (changing MB). However, after being briefed by the party leadership, I understand why it was made," he said.

He said this when approached by reporters after joining the new Menteri Besar of Terengganu, Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman, for a meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, along with 13 other Terengganu Barisan Nasional assemblymen and the Terengganu State Assembly Speaker, at Bangunan Perdana Putra here today.

Asked if he was pressured to make the decision (quit Umno), Roslee said: "The decision was made in haste, it was made by myself without any instructions from anyone."

Yesterday, the media had reported that Roslee had quit the party and declared himself to be an independent assemblyman after Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said, who is also Kijal assemblyman, announced that he was quitting Umno to become an independent assemblyman following his resignation as MB on Monday.

The assemblyman for Ajil, Ghazali Taib, also did likewise.
