The wife of tycoon Tan Sri Khoo Kay Peng told the High Court here today that Rossway Park in the United Kingdom was the couple's permanent home, and not in Malaysia.
Puan Sri Pauline Chai Siew Phin said her husband agreed to make Rossway Park their permanent home in 2009, after he had recovered from a stroke.
"I spent approximately six months nursing Khoo back to health in Malaysia following the stroke in Dec, 2008. Approximately in May 2009, once Khoo was able to travel, I began traveling with him for his work.
"This involved us typically spending five days in Kuala Lumpur, seven to 10 days in London and then two days in Hong Kong on a continuing cycle.
Khoo and I agreed after his stroke that he needed to take it easy and we decided to make Rossway Park our home," she said during re-examination by lawyer Edmund Bon who was representing her.
Chai, 67, who was Miss Malaysia/International 1969, was testifying before Judge Yeoh Wee Siam on Khoo's application for dispensation of the need to go before a conciliatory body for reconciliation before divorce, and to determine a preliminary issue of whether a Malaysian court has the jurisdiction to hear his divorce petition.
