The Ampang Magistrate's Court here was told that Rozana Misbun sustained a fractured nose and a broken rib as a result of being beaten, punched and kicked after a misunderstanding with her rock singer husband, Awie.
Rozana, 37, told the court they had an argument after Awie or his real name, Mohd Azhar Othman, accused her of stealing and using his money without permission.
"He asked me where the money was...I told him all the money had been spent on their household expenses, but he did not believe me," she said.
Rozana said Awie then turned aggressive and swung a camera monopod at her, which hit her left ear and made it bleed.
She said Awie also stomped on her left side of the body, causing her to suffer internal bleeding and had be hospitalised for four days at a private hospital from June 4 last year.
When questioned by deputy public prosecutor Goh Ai Rene on her feelings and reactions during the incident, Rozana said while withstanding the pain, she begged her husband to stop hurting her.
Dressed in a blue suit and scarf, Rozana was testifying in the trial of Awie, who faces a charge of causing grievous hurt on his wife.
Awie pleaded not guilty to intentionally causing serious injury to Rozana at their house in Taman Ukay Bistari, Ukay Perdana, Hulu Kelang at 1.30 pm on June 2 last year.
Awie was charged on July 4 last year under Section 325 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum imprisonment of seven years and liable to a fine, if convicted.
The mother of three, said Awie then gave her a handkerchief to wipe her wounds and later asked her to follow him to a bank in Ampang.
However, Rozana said her refusal to go to the bank with the condition she was in prompted Awie to drag her into the car.
"At the bank, his driver was always behind me, while he (Awie) stood outside the bank," she said, admitting to have withdrawn RM30,000 from her account at the Alliance Bank that day.
Rozana said she then went to another bank to withdraw more money, but failed to do so as she had forgotten to bring the bank's saving account book.
Meanwhile, during cross-examination by counsel Hazman Harun, Rozana said her husband had not listened to her explanation on the money spent but instead had punched, kicked and repeatedly stomped on her body.
Rozana however, agreed that during the incident, she did not scream for help even though their five children and the maid were in the house.
The hearing before Magistrate Ayuni Izzati Sulaiman continues on June 3.
