Runaway lorry crashes into 14 cars in Jalan Duta

A runaway 10-tonne lorry carrying sand lost control and crashed into 14 cars in Jalan Duta this evening.

According to Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Legal Staff officer DSP S. Markandan, there was no casualties in the 4.50pm accident but a few victims suffered minor injuries.

"The lorry driver, 32, claimed he lost control due to brake failure as the lorry was descending a downhill stretch of the expressway while heading towards the city centre," he said when contacted here today.

Markandan said initial investigations revealed that the incident occurred at the five-lane expressway which was congested at the time of incident.

He said the lorry driver and the vehicles involved in the accident were taken to the Kuala Lumpur traffic police station for investigations.
