Selangor Election Commission (EC) deputy director, Kamarul Azman Ahmad Sabri has denied giving any statement on the addition of the names of military voters in Selangor as reported by a local English-language news portal yesterday.
Kamarul Azman said he had never made any statement or explanation to the media regarding the list of demands of the 2017 First Quarter Supplementary Electoral Roll (RDPT) as reported by the news portal.
"I express regret over the reporting (article) in respect of the violation of journalistic ethics by citing my name as a source of information without referring the report and asking for permission directly from me.
"This has caused confusion and misconception among readers," he said in a statement, here today.
Kamarul Azman also demanded that the article be withdrawn or corrected and his name not used as the source of the report.
The news portal yesterday quoted the Selangor EC as saying that 1,170 of the more than 28,000 military personnel and family members added to the list of voters were in Selangor.
