The Home Ministry today confirmed that Sabah is now free of cartels involved in the illicit purchase and trade of Malaysian identification cards (ICs), news portal Berita Harian online reported.
Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid said the proactive measures adopted were the results the Ministry's collaboration with the National Registration Department in identifying the eradication of the cartels in Sabah.
Ahmad Zahid hopes the public will come forward to assist the Ministry and the NRD to clamp down on all illegal purchase and trades of fake ICs.
“If there are still individuals involved are still at large, we would like the public to inform the Ministry or NRD in order for us to conduct further surveillance and legislation,” said Ahmad Zahid at a press conference after attending the Ministry’s Hari Inovasi, here today.
